Delhi : YouTube is testing a new button that allows you to start playing random movies on your phone or tablet in what appears to be a test.

YouTube's power comes from its recommendation engine in addition to its colossal library of online videos. But a new button is beginning to appear, which makes it all mysterious, for people who just want to start content without having to browse through a ton of alternatives.

A black button in the YouTube mobile app lets users start playing YouTube Shorts at random. Although there is a much more prominent Shorts button on the bottom bar, this is a touch redundant. However, YouTube has experimented with this concept before. A while back, a Reddit thread revealed a "Can't decide what to watch?" widget on the main page that, when clicked, would play full-length films at random in a manner similar to Shorts. The thread's description said to "try a new way to discover videos."

It also doesn't seem to be a part of the official YouTube trial, given how little awareness the feature has. The purpose of these experiments is to provide users with an early look at new features. The platform keeps most of its tests and experiments detailed on a help page. Originally restricted to Premium tier users, these tests are now available to everyone on the streaming platform, allowing almost anybody to test out new features.

YouTube revealed AI-generated descriptions for chosen English language video producers back in July as one such project. Subsequently, the streaming platform began permitting certain producers to "pause" comments at the video level last month, all without taking down already published remarks.
