Election Commission of India has reportedly given a clean chit to PM Narendra Modi for the eighth time in the model code violation complaints, including one relating to his ‘roadshow’ in Ahmedabad on April 23 and April 9 speech at Chitradurga, Karnataka.

In a letter dated April 30, the Election Commission sought a report on the aforesaid complaint from the Madhya Pradesh Electoral officer, following the order, the CEO submitted a letter with a transcript of Rahul Gandhi's speech.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday issued a notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his citizenship in response to a complaint from BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy.

Rahul Gandhi's counter-affidavit is rather a carbon copy of the “explanation” filed by him earlier in the Supreme Court about the circumstances of his comment.

Taking a jibe on Rahul Gandhi, BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a working schedule of 18 hours per day but the Congress president goes on a vacation every 2-3 months.

Ever since Priyanka Gandhi was appointed Congress general secretary, there were several speculations on her seat allotment for the election.

The BJP demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and called him a “liar of the first order” in public opinion. “This was an attempt by Rahul Gandhi to manufacture a lie and create a controversy in the Rafale deal... He should apologise to the people of this country,” said BJP spokesperson G V L Narsimha Rao.

The BJP leader said that Mr Gandhi, of late, has made a daily routine of "making recklessly false statements". "He was wrong on several counts that I have been pointing out in the last six months. He had no qualms of taking liberty with the truth. The reality is now he has had to express regret," he said.

"My political opponents wrongly projected that I had deliberately and intentionally suggested that the Supreme Court had said 'Chowkidar chor hai'. Nothing could be farther from my mind," he said in his statement to the Supreme Court.

Rahul Gandhi was attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally. Speaking at an election rally earlier this week, he had question how all thieves have Modi in their surname.
