Los Angeles : Donald Trump on Monday emerged winner after he clinched the presidency after gaining full majority in electoral college ballots.

He was announced the winner after electors from Texas cast ballots and put him over the 270 electoral votes needed to win. The results will be officially announced on January 6 in a special joint session of Congress.

The result is a stark contrast in comparison to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s popular vote win where she amassed a nearly 3 million-vote lead over Donald Trump.

This political dichotomy has sparked special scrutiny and intense lobbying of electors by Trump’s opponents in recent weeks, including mass protests.

Recently CIA also revealed that Russian hacking could have boosted his campaign, which in the view of many Trump critics raised doubts about his legitimacy.

Meanwhile, any such allegations have been dismissed by Trump who stated, “This election represents a movement that millions of hard working men and women all across the country stood behind and made possible. With this historic step we can look forward to the bright future ahead.”

So far, his detractors have showered support on Hillary Clinton but odds are out now.

Donald Trump will officially take charge as US President on January 20, 2017.
