Anaz Mandi Fire: 'Will never forget what I saw', says one eyewitness

New Delhi : 43 people have been killed in a fire incident at Anaz Mandi, with many people still in shock of how the things folded amid screams of many trapped inside a building.

A News18 report quoted an eye witness of the incident who said, "he will never forget what he saw that day." He also recalled how everyone around him was screaming and asking for help.

According to the officials, the fire killed at least 43 people and injured more than two dozen in the incident. The fire was triggered by a short circuit on the fourth floor of a plastic factory.

The news report also quoted a neighbour who woke up to cries of people. “It must have been sometime between 4.45 and 5.15am. I climbed to my terrace from where I saw three to five people inside.”

The fire tenders were alerted around 5.30 am by the residents as they rushed for the incident spot.

Nearly 150 rescuers were put in place to pull out 63 people from the building.
