Vaginal Health: Here are 5 superfoods that you need to add to your diet

Vaginal Health

New Delhi : Intimate hygiene and health are one of the least talked about topics in our country. No one really talks about how to care for your vagina and keep it clean. Even using the word 'vagina' is a big taboo. Feminine health and hygiene is considered a taboo and brushed under the rug but this hush-hush topic needs to be talked about. The lack of awareness is one of the major causes of female health problems. From period talks to vagina talks, they're all avoided like plague and that is probably why most women in India suffer in silence. They fail to get adequate treatment at the right time which only elevates their problems. Now when it comes to diet, we take nearly everything into consideration but there's one thing that most of us tend to forget and that is our vaginal health. Our diet also has an impact on our lady parts and this is why we need to be careful with what we include in our diet. One of the most common problems with our lady parts is that funny or pungent smell or itchiness which might hint towards an infection but while you find the time to see your doctor, you can also improve your diet and add these simple healthy food items to your diet which might just solve your problem for good.

1. Curd

Curd or yoghurt is a rich source of probiotics and good bacteria which is essential for our gut and immune system. Our vagina also has some good bacteria and having curd can help maintain the pH balance of our vagina and prevent any infections like a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis.

2. Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits like lemons and oranges are a rich source of vitamin C which can aid and strengthen our immunity. They also work wonders for our vaginal health and reduce the risk of vaginal infections by nearly 50 per cent.

3. Eggs

Egg yolk is a great source of vitamin D. It is important to understand that lack of vitamin D makes us prone to health problems, especially vaginal health problems. Adding eggs to your diet can prevent an unhealthy vagina.

4. Fish

We're all aware that fish is a source of omega-3 and researchers have claimed that it is an essential nutrient for our vaginal health and can aid in preventing endometriosis.

5. Broccoli

This vegetable is a rich source of antioxidants which are essential for our health. Researchers have claimed that it can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
