Drinking alcohol will remove coronavirus from throat: Congress MLA urges to reopen liquor shops

New Delhi : Bharat Singh, Congress MLA from Sangod, made a claim that "drinking alcohol will remove the coronavirus from throat" and urged Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to reopen the liquor shops in the state. The liquor shops have been closed in Rajasthan and other states in India in wake of the nationwide lockdown.

"When sanitizing hands with alcohol can remove coronavirus infection then drinking alcohol will also be helpful in removing it from throat," the Congress MLA wrote in his letter dated April 30.

He also mentioned that with the decision to shutdown liquor shops during the coronavirus lockdown has boosted the illegal sale of the alcohol.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the lockdown in India on March 24 for 21 days, it was later extended to May 3 in wake of rising cases.

More than 2500 coronavirus cases have been reported in Rajasthan.
