Three days, three big earthquakes
New Delhi : Amid coronavirus, the earth is experiencing its long time issue – earthquakes. Cut to last 3 three days and three major tremors have been recorded from different parts.
The biggest problem associated with tremors is that they are unpredictable and if any of them come at a big scale, it can rattle humans and their lives completely. Here are three major earthquakes reported in less than 72 hours.
Massive Undersea Earthquake in New Zealand
On February 11, 2021, New Zealand reported a massive undersea earthquake of 7.7 magnitude. Though there was no physical damage by the quake, but it prompted authorities to announce Tsunami warnings in the area. Later the US Tsunami Warning Centre confirmed that a tsunami is likely to strike the coastal areas of New Zealand and Australia.
Strong earthquake in Tajikistan, tremors in North India
On February 12, 2021, people in North India experienced mild tremors as a big 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Tajikistan. According to USGS, the earthquake was reported 35 km west of Murghob in Tajikistan.
Big tremor jolt in Japan
On February 13, 2021, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake reportedly struck Japan’s northeastern Fukushima Prefecture. According to Japan Meteorological Agency, the tremors were centered about 60 kilometres (37 miles) beneath the ocean bed. The tremors were also felt in the capital city of Japan – Tokyo, where the Richter scale majored it to be of 4 intensity.
