New Delhi : When it comes to grooming yourself, you can’t avoid removing the long hair strand sticking out from the nose. But, health experts say, nasal hair has a purpose. They act as a defence system and keep harmful waste out of the nose. However, nasal hair sticking out of the nostrils can look disgusting and not so appealing. Most people consider plucking their nasal hair without knowing the fact that it comes with potential risks.

If you pluck your nasal hair, you can cause some serious infection. Once the hair follicle is open, all the germs, dirt and particles around will be attracted to the open pore post plucking.

Biologically, there's a part of your face, which is called the danger triangle? The triangle is the area from the bridge of the nose to the corners of the mouth. It contains blood vessels and nerves which help transport blood to the brain.

How plucking hair of nose can kill you?

By plucking nasal hair you can actually transfer infection from the blood vessels to the brain. Though, the chances of such infections are rare but those, who have a weaker immune system can be more flat to it. The veins that carry blood can form a clot of infection and put pressure on the brain, which can lead to paralysis or even death.

Even if you pop a pimple around danger triangle, you can spread infection which can lead to a blood clot, which will basically block the vein carrying blood. This is known as Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis and this condition can cause death in 30% of the cases.

So, what you should do then?

The best thing is to use scissors or trimmers to get rid of the hair outside the nose. It is advisable not to cut down the hair inside.
