A Panchkula court on Thursday dismissed a plea for regular bail filed by Honeypreet in connection with violence that broke out after the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda sect's head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in two rape cases.

She was detained by the Punjab Police from the Zirkapur-Patiala highway and later handed over to the Haryana Police, a senior police official told IANS. The police had been on her trail for nearly a month and raids were conducted in Nepal, Rajasthan, Bihar and Haryana.

Fugitive Honeypreet Insan, a close aide of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was arrested on Tuesday and will be produced in a trial court of Haryana's Panchkula on Wednesday, police said.

Gupta, whose family were staunch dera followers, was married to Honeypreet in 1999 at the behest of Ram Rahim. Honeypreet's real name is Priyanka Taneja and she hails from Fatehabad town in Haryana. Gupta moved the court for divorce in 2011.
