Delhi : The Aadhaar card's contents, including address, phone number, photo, and other information, must be kept current in order to maintain accuracy and security, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Most Aadhaar information can be updated online, however there are several crucial ones that can only be done offline. Aadhaar enrollment centres must be visited in order to update biometrics and other information; online changes are only permitted for specific details. How to update your phone number on your Aadhaar card is explained here.

To enroll in Aadhaar or update demographic information (such as name, address, date of birth, gender, cellphone number, and email) if it is out-of-current, people must go to an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, per UIDAI's guidelines. Aadhaar information must be updated, especially the biometrics of children who have reached the age of 15. The only way to update biometric information (fingerprint, iris, and picture) is to go to the nearby enrollment facility.

Updates to documents will be free of charge until September 14, 2023, according to a recent UIDAI announcement. Online updates for proofs of identification and address are available to anyone.

However, changing phone numbers can only be done in person at an Aadhaar enrollment station and cannot be done online. With the use of a false cellphone number, unauthorised users might abuse the system, according to the verification procedure' goal.

Use the steps below to update your phone number in Aadhaar:

  1. Find the Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Card Centre that is closest to you. To locate the closest centre, go to uidai.gov.in and select "Locate Enrolment Centre".
  2. At the centre, ask the Aadhaar service representative for a form designed expressly for upgrading your cellphone number. Completely fill out the Aadhaar Update/Correction form.
  3. Examine the completed form before giving it to the Aadhaar executive.
  4. The Aadhaar representative will then provide you an acknowledgment sheet with the Update Request Number (URN) on it.
  5. Check the status of your application using the URN. On the myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in website, select "Check Enrolment & Update Status." Your URN and the captcha code must be entered.
  6. Please be aware that it might take up to 90 days for the UIDAI database to update with your cellphone number.

You may properly update your phone number on your Aadhaar card by following these procedures. Keep in mind to swiftly update any changes to maintain the accuracy and security of your Aadhaar information.
