New Delhi : Chinese phone maker OnePlus announced on Friday that it will issue full refunds to customers who purchased the 256GB model of the OnePlus 12R smartphone. This decision comes after the company admitted that this specific model, and all other 12R models, actually use UFS 3.1 storage, not the previously advertised UFS 4.0. UFS (Universal Flash Storage) is a technology that impacts data transfer and access speeds in smartphones.

During the January launch of the OnePlus 12R, the company unveiled the Trinity Engine, a software suite designed to optimize phone memory and storage performance. However, OnePlus mistakenly stated that certain versions of the phone with Trinity Engine would boast UFS 4.0 storage, while they actually have UFS 3.1.

Customers who purchased the 256GB OnePlus 12R can contact customer service to initiate a full refund. The deadline for claiming a refund is set for March 16, 2024.
